Apprentices ace award applications to reach grand finals

A pair of budding apprentices from Climarite Refrigeration have reached the final stages in two of the most prestigious awards in their industry.

Michael (Mick) Brady and Alex Forkings beat fierce competition to become shortlisted in the Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs) for “Apprentice Team of the Year”, as well as the RAC Cooling Industry Awards in the “Student of the Year” category.

The dynamic duo were nominated by workplace team leaders and supported by tutors at City of Liverpool College, where both apprentices are studying a three-year part-time course in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps (RACHP). Alex and Mick are also employed under full-time contract at Climarite Refrigeration.

Patrick Connolly, Managing Director at Climarite beams: “both Mick and Alex put huge effort into their studies, take great pride in their work, have made rapid progression and show plenty of potential. For them to be recognised outside of the company is absolutely fantastic and we are so pleased for them.

“Regardless of the outcome on the night, all the team here are incredibly proud of their achievements and know they have a fantastic career ahead of them”.

For each of these prestigious awards the apprentices endured three separate stages including written applications, video and in-person interviews. Each of the award organisers praised the applicants for reaching the final stages, especially given the high number and calibre of entrants this year.

Both apprentices have reached the final round in the BIBAs, with Alex reaching the final in the RAC Cooling Industry awards.

The RAC Cooling Industry Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 19th September at London’s Grosvenor House, immediately followed by the BIBA Awards at Blackpool Tower Ballroom on 20th September. Both apprentices will attend the black-tie gala dinner events to find out if they have won.

We wish Alex and Mick the very best of luck!
