FIVE SIGNS YOUR AIR CON NEEDS A SERVICE
We may not be known for our red-hot climate here in the North West but weather forecasters are predicting another sweltering summer, meaning AC systems will experience higher usage and put under more pressure.
At Climarite, we see an influx of air conditioning service calls from May-September with customers reporting system breakdowns. More often than not these inconvenient and sometimes costly breakdowns can be entirely prevented with regular maintenance.
As warning signs are often easy to spot and early detection key, Climarite has cited five signals that indicate your system may be ready for a service – saving you time, money and hassle:
- Noise:modern units that have been correctly installed should be relatively quiet and unnoticeable. Strange noises – such as loud humming, rattling or buzzing sounds – indicate that an internal part isn’t functioning properly. A qualified engineer will be able to identify the problem quickly and make the necessary repairs before the system is more seriously damaged.
- Thermostat adjustment: assuming the correct size system has been installed properly, a comfortable temperature should be maintained without having to constantly fiddle around with the settings. Having to do so indicates a fault or inefficiency in the system, so it would be worth asking an expert to take a look.
- Moisture in the air: look out for condensation on windows, floors and AC units themselves, as humidity is often means something is amiss with your air conditioning system. Early detection can prevent further issues, such as mould, which can significantly damage units over time.
- Hot and cold spots: an efficient systemshould maintain a consistent temperature throughout the room and building. Warm and cool spots simply shouldn’t exist, so if you find customers or employees are complaining about this it’s time to get a professional to run an audit – a simple adjustment may solve the problem and save you money at the same time.
- Bigger bills: if your energy bills seem higher than usual it’s not unlikely that an inefficient AC system is impacting overall consumption. Often this can be rectified with small modifications or repairs, or it may be that upgrading to a more modern system provides a cost-effective solution for the long-term.
